ABOUT US
Our cozy studio is located in the heart of Medfield. The open, airy, second floor space has tons of natural light, brick walls, and a warm, welcoming feel.
We help busy people stay active, heal old (and new!) injuries, and manage stress so they can build strength and flexibility, feel more relaxed, and comfortable in their own skin.
At Medfield Yoga Studio, our inclusive classes help battle the challenges of getting older in a non-competitive environment. Our team offers personalized instruction including smart, safe movement and tools to help relax your body and mind. Without mirrors, we're able to focus on how our body feels in the postures, rather than how it looks.
Yoga IS for you.
Can't touch your toes? Yes, yoga is for you.
Never been to a yoga class? Yoga is for you, too.
Metabolism slowing down?
Aging body aches and pains?
Stressed out and anxious?
Medfield Yoga is definitely for you.
Whether you’re an absolute beginner, recovering from an injury, or just feel tight and tense, Yoga can create space - in your body, in your mind, and in your life - so there's room to learn, grow, and experience.
We're excited to welcome you into our studio, so you can create more space for yourself.
NEW TO YOGA?
WHAT TO BRING:
*If you have a mat, bring it! If not, we have yoga mats to use at the studio.
*We have blocks, blankets, and bolsters for you to use. Some people bring their own.
*Bring a water bottle. This is yoga, it's a good idea to hydrate! We have a bubbler to refill your bottle.
*Bring an open mind...your body will follow!
WHAT TO WEAR:
*Comfort is key! We'll be inverted (like downward dog) and baggy shirts may inhibit breathing. A closer fitting top may be best. Sweat pants/yoga leggings are a good idea.
*Practicing yoga barefoot is ideal.
*Bring/wear something to stay warm and cozy in savasana and after class.
*No smelly perfumes or lotions! Some people are sensitive to smells and lotions can make hands slide on the mat.
*There is a bathroom at the studio. Sorry, no showers!
WHAT TO KNOW:
*All classes are open to everyone, though there may be ones that are a better fit.
*Yoga is done on a "just-right" stomach - not starving and not full!
*This is your practice. Don't worry what the person on the mat next to you is doing. Their story is not yours.
*Always listen to your body and push back into child's pose when you want...a lovely, wonderful pose.
*Arrive a few minutes early to get settled in.
*Have questions? Just ask!

OUR TEAM
TRACY BUCKLEY
I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years. Before (and during!) that time, I was a runner and was starting to feeling the aches and pains that go along with years of stress on my body – sore knees, tight hamstrings, and creaky joints. I wandered into my first yoga class with no idea what to expect and pretty scared! I left that studio that night knowing I’d be back. Over the next few years, I was back and forth to yoga, as it sometimes goes. It wasn’t until my father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s (and later, Alzheimer’s) that I found what I needed in yoga and returned to practice more regularly. My mat was the one place I could actually relax. I wasn’t consumed with worry, sadness, and fear. For an entire class, I found the space to breathe – long, healing breaths. After my father’s death, it seemed like a perfect time to become certified to teach yoga to offer that space to others. I am a 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and am also certified as a Reiki Master. Private yoga and/or reiki sessions are always available by appointment.
MELISSA HOLM
After growing up with an active lifestyle; dancing, playing soccer, and skiing, I settled into the same pattern many of us fall victim to. The corporate world took over, stealing precious time to take care of myself. Later, motherhood consumed me, I spent all of my energy caring for my two amazing children while I wasn’t at the office. After several attempts to take control of my physical well-being, including at least one failed gym membership, I discovered Yoga. I should credit my husband for introducing the practice to me. He “encouraged” me with a yoga mat under the tree one Christmas, and the rest is history. After one class I was hooked by the challenge, and fell in love with my physical and spiritual transformation. Soon I realized it was time for a change; life is too short, it was time for a new journey. I left my high stress role in the financial industry and studied under Susie Masters and Ashley Rose-Mello to become a registered yoga teacher (200 RYT). I am thrilled to give back, and enjoy sharing what I have learned through my practice with others.
GINNY DORN
Ginny is a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance since 2007. She began her practice after recognizing the need to begin an exercise regimen and selected Yoga as it would be less impact on joints and would assist in stress relief. Once into a regular practice, she became interested in teacher training as a way to deepen her own practice. As a requirement of certification eight weeks of “giving back” teaching lead to a regular class in a corporate environment. This class allowed for her to exercise what she had learned in training as well as bringing stress relieving techniques to her colleagues and students. Ginny’s classes are a combination of Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga with a focus on building a strong foundation for all poses. Her classes are fun and challenging for practitioners of all levels.
SUSIE MASTERS
I have been practicing yoga since entering a kids yoga class in my native country of Scotland. I joined my mother and sister as a certified yoga instructor and am also a R.Y.T (registered yoga teacher). When returning to Scotland, I take part in yoga workshops at the yoga centers of Glasgow and Edinburgh. I come with an Iyengar background as well as studying in more recent years vinyasa and viniyoga. I enjoy the vast subject of yoga and spend much spare time at various yoga workshops to broaden my experience. I enjoy teaching a variety of classes while adapting the class to the individual.
JUNE RIVERS
My practice began fourteen years ago after the birth of my daughter with the intention of retrieving my former firmer form. Little did I know that physical fitness is just one of so many amazing benefits of a strong yoga practice! I have been a nurse for twenty eight years, and I am currently employed as a nurse practitioner in the Newborn ICU at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. My yoga practice allows me to bring calm and focus to critical scenarios at my job and also allows me to connect with parents while they are experiencing some of the most difficult moments of their lives. For this and so much more, I am eternally grateful for my practice. I have practiced Iyengar, Bikram, and Baptiste yoga styles, but my favorite is a strong Vinyasa flow. I am a two hundred hour RYT certified yoga instructor. Come join me on the mat!
MARY MITCHELL
I discovered yoga ten years ago with my daughter at a home-based studio called The Center for Mind Body Training here in Medfield. My practice matured as I explored other studios and disciplines, and I have become a regular student of vinyasa power flow. Ever since I was a young teen I have participated in some form of exercise; walking, step aerobics, core fitness, etc. Yoga was something I thought I could not do because I would look at a picture of someone in an advanced pose and think, “I can’t do that!” I am so glad I found the willingness inside me to try; to start as a beginner. The sense of well-being and calm I felt after just a short time of practicing has kept me coming back to my mat for over ten years. In fact, it was the profound change that yoga brought to my life that led me to take the 200 hour Yoga Immersion and Teaching Training. I am also certified in Reiki Level 2. I have a strong desire to share what I have learned and enjoy leading others through their asana practice. Yoga helps me to find the peace of mind and equilibrium that has so often felt out of reach in my life. I have learned to be more compassionate toward myself and others. I am grateful for all of my teachers and hope to give back to others as much as they have given, and continue to give to me. I hope you’ll join me here at Medfield Yoga Studio.
KELLY ARMITAGE
I took my first yoga class in 2005, but it wasn’t until I became a mother that it grew into a more important part of my life. I didn’t know exactly what it was that drew me to the practice, but I craved it and somehow I always felt more like myself when I was on my mat. Yoga quickly shifted from a small part of my workout routine to a daily practice I needed to stay grounded, calm, and present. I completed my 200hr Teacher Training at Medfield Yoga and I am excited to share with others what I have learned and enjoy so much. I am very focused on the physical benefits yoga provides, but it is the mindfulness, the breathing, and the quiet that bring me back to my mat every day. Currently I live in Medfield and when I’m not at the studio I enjoy spending time outside and around town with my husband and three young children.
AMANDA MACBETH
I became dedicated to my yoga practice shortly after completing the Boston Marathon in 2014, crossing the finish line with a sense of accomplishment as well as a body that felt depleted and in need of some TLC from the months of hard training. As I spent more time on my mat, I fell in love with the space yoga created for me to focus on building strength and flexibility, establishing both challenge and ease in poses, and cultivating a more focused and still mind. The feeling of peace and renewed energy stayed with me long after I left my mat, and I was hooked! In 2017 I knew it was time to dive further into the practice and bring its benefits to others, and I completed my 200-hour RYT and Reiki I training right here at Medfield Yoga Studio. I am thrilled to bring the many benefits of yoga to both new and seasoned students with an energizing Vinyasa flow that focuses on developing individual inner calm and strength.
KATHRYN POSTULKA
I first fell in love with the physical aspect of yoga ~ I’ve been doing handstands in my kitchen for as long as I can remember! Growing up, I loved playing sports and pushed myself to excel in any athletic challenge. In my 20’s, I ran many races and accomplished my goal of finishing a triathlon. As I began to have my children, I practiced yoga for different reasons and was drawn further in by the mindfulness, spirituality and the quiet. In 2010, I left the corporate world to pursue a life and career focused around health and wellness. I became a Certified Health Coach and launched my own business coaching clients and running nutrition & wellness programs. Through it all, I was drawn more and more to yoga and the calm, balanced mind and body it gave to me. While pregnant with my 3rd baby, I completed my 200hour certification, studying under Susie Masters and Ashley RoseMello. For me, yoga is a way to come back from the dizzying pace of the world and connect to myself again. I enjoy teaching a physical, yet mindful and playful class. I hope to inspire students to connect, listen and build confidence in themselves so they can live life to the fullest potential.

ALL LEVELS FLOW
This class focuses on integrating breath with movement, taking students from one posture to the next, while sustaining some postures. The flow of this practice harmonizes body, breath, mind and spirit. This practice strengthens the heart, creates better balance and encourages grace. This class is for All Levels.
MINDFUL YOGA
In this class, we move slowly through asanas, focusing on our sensations and breath. We practice self-compassion with kindness and lightheartedness. We come back into the present moment through awareness of the union of body and mind, touching on philosophy of practice, and guided meditation.
POWER FLOW
A fitness-based approach to Vinyasa style flow with a touch of heat. Students will focus on linking conscious breath with a vigorous and mindful flow. Students will build strength, flexibility and concentration and calm the mind. You can expect a great cardiovascular and strength building workout combined with breath work.
RESTORATIVE YOGA
Restore your body, mind and spirit through this gentle and supported practice. This class is enjoyed on the mat in seated or reclined positions. Props, bolsters, blankets, eye pillows, candlelight and aromatherapy are incorporated to reawaken all our senses and calm the nervous system, the mind and the body. This is a calming & therapeutic practice that soothes the nervous system and releases physical and mental tension. This class is for All Levels.
YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga provides that balance to more active (or yang) styles of movement because it asks the body to reach deep into the connective tissue to increase flexibility, restore greater range of motion, and improve the health of your joints, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. We stay seated or laying on the mat and target the low back, hips, pelvis and legs. Postures are held for 2-5 minutes as we work into these tissues that are often overlooked. Yin Yoga restores energy flow in the body and prepares the body to return to more vigorous activities. No yoga experience necessary.
GENTLE YOGA
Expect to feel refreshed, calm, centered after this class, which takes a gentle approach to practicing yoga. These days, sometimes our biggest challenge is to slow down. As we work slowly and gently, we emphasize mindfulness, body alignment, breath awareness, and relaxation. Beginners can learn and practice the basics and seasoned practitioners can revel in stretches and turn focus inward. As we slow down, we can truly take notice of how our bodies feel in the postures. This class is for All Levels.
FLOW AND RESTORE
Students will be guided through a candlelit, slow-flow practice designed to gently warm up the body, create ease and release tension to prepare for relaxation. The flow will be followed by a series of restoratives postures using blankets, bolsters and blocks to provide support and offer deep relaxation. Class ends with an extended savasana. This class is a deeply nourishing way to end your weekend fully relaxed and ready for the whatever lies ahead. All levels are welcome.
STRETCH AND SWEAT
This class will rev up your metabolism, reshape your body, AND calm your mind. Stretch and Sweat is the ultimate hybrid of our All Levels Flow class and Interval Training! We combine stretching and lengthening benefits of yoga with strengthening and toning benefits of cardio work (with or without hand weights) to improve focus and agility. There are between 2 - 4 intervals (short bursts of higher intensity cardio-focused movement) per class. Alignment is a top priority to keep your body safe. This class is adaptable to ALL fitness levels, from brand new to experienced yogis: or anyone who just wants to take their current practice to the next level. This class is for All Levels.
REST AND RELAX
This blended practice evolves each week. We use a mix of Yin Yoga, myofascial release techniques, Restorative postures, gentle movement, and our own breath to calm the body and mind. This class addresses issues relating to overloaded senses, overused muscles, under-worked whole body care, including tension headaches, insomnia, and emotional imbalance. This class is perfect for absolutely everyone and can help restore your body, relax your mind, and refresh your spirit. This class is for All Levels.

What are some of our past trainees saying?
“Medfield Yoga Studio’s Yoga Teacher Training was a life-changing experience for me; the benefits are immeasurable. Tracy is an exceptional instructor that is knowledgeable, caring, and extremely supportive of all who enter. Whether you plan to teach or simply deepen your practice, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of yoga/meditation that you can incorporate into your daily life...on AND off your mat!” -Anne Marie C.
“Medfield Yoga Studio offers a thorough, engaging, enjoyable and accessible program. The schedule is extremely manageable and leaves enough time between sessions to digest materials and topics covered. Classes include movement and instruction with a variety of teachers on topics such as the history of yoga, meditation, Reiki and several workshop events. The environment was supportive, welcoming with many opportunities to practice teaching. Tracy is a gifted teacher and truly lives her life's passion of bringing all elements of yoga into the lives of her students. I completed training confident in my skills and knowledge and prepared to teach a variety of yoga classes. I highly recommend Medfield Yoga’s Teacher Training! ” -Susan A.
“Carving this time out from my young family and committing to Medfield Yoga 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training was one of the most important decisions I have made for myself in my life. I knew I would enjoy learning to teach yoga, but what I did not expect was the personal journey that I would take during the course of the training. Rarely as adults do we get the opportunity to study and reflect on our spirituality, life purpose, and interconnection to all other beings. I learned about how I face challenges, self-care, and why meditation and yoga are transformational. The other wonderful surprise was the life-long friends I found in the training. We have a strong bond and I continue to enjoy practicing with them.” -Darcie R.

YOGA FOR RUNNERS
with Amanda Macbeth
Training for a marathon? Just starting a Couch to 5K program? You've probably heard that yoga is good for runners. But who has the time for all that cross-training? Hold on!
Our resident marathoner, Amanda, will help you discover how yoga can make you a better runner: improve your strength, flexibility, coordination, concentration, and balance.
Each month, you'll practice a sequence of postures designed to lengthen and stretch muscles used when running (hamstrings, IT band, hip flexors, tibial muscles, psoas muscles, achilles tendons, and the plantar fascia). We'll work to alleviate spinal compression and build strength in the core to improve endurance and alignment during your runs. We'll learn breathing techniques to help relax your body and make it more efficient.
Specifically scheduled for Sundays, in case you're hurting after your long run, these classes will help reverse the imbalances created by your favorite sport. You'll get a complete set of tools you can use on your own to complement your runs so you can “om to your PR.”

We want you to feel as comfortable as possible that there is some flexibility to make decisions that are best for you as we get closer to our retreat dates.
So, if one or more of the following scenarios occurs as a result of Covid-19 between 90 - 60 days before our departure:
*The US government issues a travel ban to Costa Rica;
*The Costa Rican government issues a travel ban and/or requires travelers to self-quarantine upon arrival;
*The US government mandates a self-quarantine for travelers returning from Costa Rica;
Then, you may choose one of the following:
*Cancel your reservation and get a 100% credit applied to our rescheduled trip.
*Cancel your reservation and receive a refund for all the money paid minus $250.
59 days or less before departure:
We will do our best to recoup funds from vendors in order to refund as much as possible as cash and/or future travel credit.
*Please note:
After 8/22/2021, any/all cancellations due to non-Covid-19 related reasons will fall under our Standard Cancellation Policy.*
Please let me know if you have any questions at all.
